Survivor Training in Beijing

SPI and LOSS will be going to Beijing in late March to do three day intensive training program for mental health professionals at the Beijing Suicide Research and Prevention Centre on how to help survivors of suicide. The group will be trained in organizing and leading support groups and in providing individual treatment when indicated. Dr. Edward Dunne, who will be participating in the training program in Beijing, and is coordinating SPI's program of establishing centers focusing on providing help for survivors of suicide, is a pioneer in the field of support programs for survivors. Father Charles Rubey, the priest and social worker in Chicago who founded the LOSS program will lead the LOSS group. Dr. Michael Phillips, Executive Director of the Beijing Suicide Research and Prevention Center requested the training for his staff. He is a member of the SPI Scientific Advisory Council, is one of the leading experts on suicide prevention in Asia.
